Lillian Irene Waldrop Garrett, 89 of Joppa died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Garrett was born February 18, 1925 the daughter of Jeff and Ida Waldrop. She was married for 42 years to Afton Garrett before his death in August of 1985. She was an active member of Corinth Baptist Church. She was a lunchroom worker for many years and was born and lived in the Joppa Community. She is survived by a son: Donnie Garrett; two daughters and brothers-in-law: Dianne and Nick Beebe and Gail and Larry Cooke; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Ruth Waldrop and a host of nieces, nephews, her church family and many special friends. Preceded in death by her husband: Afton Garrett, a son and daughter-in-law: James and Mary Jo Garrett, her mother and dad: Jeff and Ida Waldrop, eight brothers: John, Noah, Bruce, Virgil, Hollis, Garvis, Bobby and Leon. Geri loved fishing and bingo but most of all she loved the Lord, her children, grandchildren and family. Kyle Martin, 25 of Lacey’s Spring died Saturday, April 26, 2014 the results of an auto accident in the Somerville area of Morgan County on Apple Grove Road. Mr. Martin was born Thursday, April 13, 1989 in Madison County, the son of Michael A. and Tisha L. Tucker Martin. He was a resident of the Union Hill, Highland Community and also a resident of the Pine Ridge Community, where he was a member of the Pine Ridge Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 2007 and also a college graduate. He was a wood flooring installer for Old Gin Carpets, Huntsville. He is survived by his parents: Michael A. and Tisha T. Martin; a sister: Kayla Martin; grandfather: Thomas Earl Tucker; a nephew: Zayden Martin; three uncles: Timmy Martin, Charles Martin and Phil Tucker; preceded in death by grandmother: Bonnie Sue Tucker and grandparents: John Pat and Mary C. Mrs. Junkins was born March 13, 1927 in Morgan County the daughter of Luther and Ella Lawrence Bowling. She was a high school graduate and has lived in the Georgia Mountain area of Guntersville since 1972. She was an assembly worker for G T E and a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law: Carolyn and Glenn Marlar, Jackie Marlar, Annette McAnally, Ellen and Allen Blouir and Beth Fowler; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren and a sister and brother-in-law: Lutherine and Glenn Greenhaw; several nieces, nephews, other family members, her church family and many dear friends and neighbors; preceded in death by her 1st husband: G. Harold Abercrombie (1967), 2nd husband: G. W. “Bunk” Junkins, Jr. (1988), her parents, three brothers, three sisters and a son-in-law. She was married 48 years to James Edward Taylor and has called the Union Hill Community of Morgan County her home since 1966. She attended New Beginnings Church. He and the former Joyce L. Solley were married 60 years. He was a past Elder and a member of the Arab Church of Christ. He served in the Alabama National Guards and has lived in the Arab area for most of his lifetime.
